About
Kulturland Brandenburg invites audiences to explore the cultural richness and regional diversity of the state. Working with a wide network of partners, the initiative develops and curates artistic and cultural projects across Brandenburg, addressing both local communities and visitors alike.
For the 2024/2025 biennial theme Welten verbinden (Connecting Worlds), we developed a visual identity that translates the idea of connection into a clear, recognizable design system. At its core is a custom-engineered typeface in which each letter is physically linked to the next — turning the concept of connection into a tangible visual principle.
The letterforms are generated through a reaction–diffusion process inspired by natural systems such as coral growth and animal skin patterns. This algorithmic approach introduces an organic logic into the typography, allowing the identity to balance structure and variability while remaining highly distinctive and scalable across formats.
The resulting visual language communicates connection not as an abstract idea, but as an active, evolving process — bridging disciplines, regions, and audiences. The identity provides Kulturland Brandenburg with a strong, contemporary framework that is both conceptually grounded and flexible enough to support a wide range of cultural programs over the entire biennial cycle.
